Went to the Mossy Creek Barnyard Festival over the weekend…

The bluegrass music was spectacular! There doesn’t seem to ever be real bluegrass played in Macon…
It was nice to hear the real deal…

This is my idea of what turf should look like… Did you know that turf had flowers?
There were a bunch of artists with paintings, there were artists actually working on their paintings while we watched…
Next time… I need to collect business cards…
While I don’t have money or space to hang these works, I know people that do…
And there were a lot of artists working with wildflowers… and I didn’t take enough pictures…

Macon seems to have a week of activities lined up…

We went down to Central City Park yesterday to see Skydog 65, an Alman brothers tribute band.
Entrance fee: 10 cans of food for the Macon Rescue Mission.

The music perfectly captured the Almans, and the crowd was appreciative.

Second Sunday in the park was a good time as always, although a double feature with two bands in the full moon was kind of a bit much…
JuBee & the Morning After and Gringo Grande played…

JuBee & the Morning After

Pic of the crowd…

The full moon behind the band…

Gringo Grande was very much the whiskey drinking rock n roll n blues band with a couple of drinking songs right out of the box, followed by a ballad about how we all should’ve cried when John Lennon died.
I thought the music was superiour in every way, but everybody with kids at the park suddenly seemed to remember obligations elsewhere…

I finally got to watch “The Social Network”!
Ok, I coulda gone out and bought tickets when it first came out, but it was so much better to wait for a free showing…
My friend and I got there a half hour or so before dark, and after setting up our chairs, rushed back to her place to cook up some popcorn… Turned out just right, we got back to the park before the opening credits of the movie.
Oh yeah, excellent movie… Did anyone else pick up on the size of the tiny web pages the professor was talking about coding? he was talking about hundreds of bytes… not even the size of a tiny thumbnail image!!

Second Sunday at Dark in Washington Park was superb!
Music by Back City Woods A local band that Rocks!
You forget that there are good bands… I was told to expect bluegrass, but the closest that band got to bluegrass was when they played “Foggy Mountain Breakdown”, and sang Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down”
Other cover tunes included Nirvana’s “Smells’ like Teen Spirit” and a Johnny Cash tune…

Looks like a bluegrass band…

good crowd…

Still as disturbing as ever, The Rocky Horror Picture Show as a 2 act play is being put on at Theatre Macon.
It’s consistent, the actors are in character and it goes over very well with the true Rocky Horror fans…

I thought that Macon downtown First Friday was more of a success for the galleries than it was for music in the park…

I got a kick out of this come-as-you-will-be party scene… on display at the under 30 /under $100 exhibit.
