Desmodium blooms and skipper caterpillars.

Desmodium is the normal host plant for the long-tailed skipper

Beggar-lice plants (desmodium sp.)
Before the bloom, before those stick-tite seeds. I admire the bloom on this plant, the fact that it’s a legume, that the long-tailed skipper uses it for a host plant.

Those seed-heads, though.
I’ve treated this plant as a weed (pull after blooming), but I’m thinking that the way that people love to cut the blooms off their plants, maybe I should give people permission to dead-head, and just keep it around.
